Preparing artwork for Post-it Notes

Please Read Carefully

(These instructions constitute special Terms and Conditions for Post-It Notes. The placement of an order with us constitutes acceptance of these Terms & Conditions)

We can prepare artwork from your instructions but if you wish to supply it, please follow the guidelines below.

(Please email us if you need help)

Supplying your artwork

Artwork can be submitted via email to 'post-it@quaysidepress.co.uk'.

Alternatively we can accept artwork on CD, Zip disk (100mb only) or floppy disk.

When artwork is supplied on disk, it should be accompanied with your order number and any pre-payment.

Artwork Formats

We can accept artwork in any of the following formats.

  • QuarkXpress, Adobe Illustrator or InDesign or Vector EPS formats
  • Bitmapped artwork -TIFF, EPS or JPEG - Resolution must be 600dpi min.
  • PDF's are only suitable for CMYK or mono files (Not spot colour / 2 colour).
  • Artwork can be supplied in other file formats, e.g. Word, CorelDraw etc, but additional costs will usually arise.

Your artwork file should contain

  1. A composite of your finished design (to exact size published on this website)
  2. Any placed images used in the artwork
  3. Screen & Printer fonts (or convert fonts to outlines)

NB: Files sent over the internet from Mac based systems should compress the font folder using either "Stuff it' in an S.E.A. format or 'Zip'

Layout guidelines

  • Artwork should be prepared to the same dimensions as the final printed pad size.
  • Allow a 5mm border between text or image and the edge of the pad, to compensate for variations when trimmed.
  • We do not recommend large or solid ink coverage over the adhesive strip, because the adhesive can pull-off the ink from the sheet below. Please call for advice if in doubt.
  • The adhesive on standard size pads is indicated by the first dimension but please advise us which on edge you prefer the adhesive, ie top/bottom or left/right.
  • Where artwork is required to bleed please allow an extra 3mm of image over pad size. NB: bleeds will add 10% to costs.
  • Bleeds - Pads will be trimmed approximately 1.5mm smaller than normal finished pad size on all edges that bleed. Design should be adjusted to take this into consideration.

Fonts

  • All fonts must be supplied or converted to outlines
  • Minimum type size for single or two colour printing is 6pt (1.8mm)
  • Minimum type size for multiple colour overprint (e.g. CMYK), or for reversed out of colour is 10pt (3mm)
  • Minimum line thickness is 0.1mm for single/two colour, 0.3mm for reversed out of single colour and 0.8mm for multiple colours or reversed out of multiple colours.

Ink Colours

  • Please ensure ink colours are clearly identified in the file and your order documentation.
  • Colours should be specified as Pantone or CMYK values - we can print up to four pantone colours or CMYK
  • Designs with more than 4 colours should be converted to CMYK or contact us for advice.
  • When printing on coloured paper bear in mind that ink colours - other than black - will be affected

Tints

  • Where tints are used the minimum value is 6% and these cannot be adjusted from your artwork
  • Please note on Post-it Notes printed screen values for tints and images are 120lpi

Registration

The press tolerance on colour to colour registration is 0.4mm. To avoid gaps on touch fit colours, your artwork should either be trapped by at least 1mm or the darker of the two colours overprinted (N.B. dependant upon the colours, overprinting may alter the colour you want to achieve).

Proofs

Our prices include a faxed laser proof, which must be approved. We can provide digital colour proofs by post but additional charges may arise.
N.B. These proofs are to show position and colour separations only. They will not be used as a colour match

For artwork queries only, please contact either Doug Fowler on 08700 130 049

. . . finally

Alterations to artwork (at your request) leading to subsequent proofs will be charged at £30
